Visit by Sheelagh Carpendale

workshop-sheelagh At the beginning of this week, Prof. Sheelagh Carpendale visited our group for two exciting and productive days. We enjoyed one of her famous “Sketching Visualizations” sessions, where even colleagues from Dresden joined, and intensive discussions about ongoing and future research projects of both sides, also stimulated by her talk about “Interacting Information through Visualization”. Fortunately, there was even time to visit the Christmas Market and chat through the evening with a warm drink.

Best Paper Award at HUSO 2015

huso2015Linda Pfeiffer recently presented our first findings about how air traffic controllers mentally represent their air space and traffic at the International Conference on Human and Social Analytics in Malta. The joint work of computer scientists and media psychologists is part of the MACeLot project and won the Best Paper Award at HUSO. Our part of the project is to rethink the visual interface of the air traffic controllers in close collaboration with the German ATC company DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH.

Proseminar Visualisierung

Dr. Paul Rosenthal.

VCL at HCII

Two members of the Visual Computing group at Technische Universität Chemnitz presented their research results at HCI International in Los Angeles this August. Walentin Heft presented the results of his phd-project in the paper “An Approach for Intuitive Visualization of Ergonomic Issues”. In addition, Michael Heidt presented results from his HCI-related work in the papers “HCI and the Community of Non-users” and “Incommensurable Writings – Examining the Status of Gender Difference Within HCI Coding Practices”.

MACeLot at IV

iv2015My new PhD student Linda Pfeiffer recently presented our paper about the current state of HCI in air trafic control with the title “A Survey of Visual and Interactive Methods for Air Traffic Control Data” at IV 2015 in Barcelona. This is basically the kick-off for our new BMBF-funded project MACeLot in cooperation with the German ATC company Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, where we are trying to revolutionize the visualizations and interaction techniques used by air trafic controllers.

Lehrveranstaltungen SS2015
